PawVillage.com and the Online Pedigree Database are provided at no charge to the online purebred community out of a desire to create a valuable resource for others who share a love of purebred dogs and an interest in pedigree research. Both have been entirely developed by the husband and wife team of Joel and Anette LeFave, professional web applications developers and Aussie owners. They also maintain the site and database with the help of a few very dedicated volunteers who assist in managing individual breeds within the Online Pedigree Database.

In 1997, Shadetree Rainforest Kid Ego "KE" had recently left the home of our friend Dave Andreozzi (Rainforest Australian Shepherds) to become the first Aussie member of the LeFave household. Ke was soon joined by Rainforest Lightning Ridge "Opal". What started out as a desire to display a few of Dave's pedigrees online, quickly became a mission. With Dave's encouragement, we created Australian Shepherds Online. Back then, the Online Pedigree Database was exclusively for Aussies. With no public entry system, all pedigrees were sent to us, and we entered the individual dog records into the database. Dave entered many of the dogs of the past that form the basis for the pedigrees of today's Aussies.

Within a couple of years, the entering of pedigrees for Aussie owners became too time-consuming an undertaking. A public online entry system was developed and the Online Pedigree Database was expanded to include all purebred breeds.

In the summer of 2002, at the age of 35, Dave Andreozzi passed away after a short illness. We lost a good friend, and our mentor in the canine community. Without his involvement, PawVillage.com and the Online Pedigree Database would not exist. While using the site and database, we ask that you remember him and other members of the purebred canine community who have come before. Please also keep in mind that the contributions you make today will benefit the purebred dog enthusiasts of tomorrow.
