Both Mabel and Leorita, two heterozygous 'Hh' Malinois, were bred to Matelot, a Malinois stud described as having very short hair. But both Mabel and Leorita, when bred to the very short-haired Matelot, each produced a long haired offspring. If Matelot had been a homozygous dominant short hair, 'HH', he could not produce a long haired offspring, regardless of the long hair gene carried by both Mabel and Leorita. Matelot, just like Mabel and Leorita, must have been a heterozygous 'Hh' Malinois. BBA pxxiii
A grandson of Fram de l'Ecaillon, with even more agressiveness than his grandfather. BBA p26
He was a Malinois of good type, but very agressive (however his hair was quite short). BBA p49
Seizures are but one of several undesirable genetic traits. FE Verbanck, on p26, describes the genetic transmission of aggressive behaviour from Fram de l'Ecaillon, to his son Ideal de l'Ecaillon, to his grandson, Matelot. (Verbanck owned Ecaillon) Mme Aubry on p92 discusses the sadly aggressive behavior of Caprice du Clos St Clair, the Tervuren great grandson of Matelot. BBA p150
