World War I had a devastating effect on everything, including dog breeding. Many of the original kennels ceased production, breeding stock was decimated, and rebuilding had to begin again. The LOSH studbooks for 1915-1920 list only 3 Tervueren registrations, for Bili, Bobinus, and Duduc, all descendants of Milsart. After the war the lines from Milsart continued, but by 1921 the LOSH was registering quite a few Tervueren as "origins unknown". Also in 1921, Saint-Hubert added a new category for the long hairs - "Chiens de Berger Belges a poil long autre que noir du fauve", after agreement was reached that all colors would be acceptable for registration due to the devastation of the war.
