Afton imported Zanande, much to Winafred's protest, as Smooths were not readily known in America, although Zanande was strikingly elegant and her coat like black velvet. Zanande is acclaimed by many to be one of the finest smooths in the world. She had already won 4 CACIBs and 7 Best of Breeds in 8 entries. Although Zanande didn't course because she preferred to stay at Afton's side, her progeny by Brahma excelled making her the first winner of the Taruna Cup. As brood bitch, Zanande contributed "the properly angulated shoulder and extreme tuck up". Top Producer 1976.
