1974 Champion du Monde (World)

He was a tall, very red and masculine-looking male, with a long and elegant neck, a large mane, medium, well-set ears, good black masking, a majestic silhouette, a willing-to-please temperament, and an outstanding level of showmanship. He had a long and successful show career, but it is as an outstanding sire that he has left his mark on the breed. Complete BSD p151

I (Sheila & Lloyd Rentschler) did also see the great Tarass de la Pouroffe, but was unimpressed by this dog. He was a large dog with a nice head and ears, but for me the light eyes spoiled the expression. He also had poor shoulders, I was not used to seeing coloring like he had either. He had a very rich base color and a lot of blackening, but on the back there was a strip about 6 inches across all the way down the back of just base colour. Since he was older I surmised he had lost some of his blackening on his back. The BS by Andrews & Cloutt

Abbreviations and Terminology:
Re (Reproducteur d'elite sans avoir ete suject recommande)-An 'elite reproducer' who has not been an sr, but who has produced the necessary sr offspring. In many cases the dogs in this category have not passed (or taken) the character test. For example, Tarass de la Pourffe was a big show winner, and the sire of sr offspring, but he failed to pass the character test, and was listed as Re Cat B in 1979.
