Opale du Chemin des Dames
CACIB
|
CACIB Paris 1967, kept by the kennel, a recommended subject of the CFCBB. BBA p72
An interesting example are the two successive breedings of Matelot, a very mahogany fawn to the long hair black Opale du Chemin des Dames, a carrier, at least one time, through her father, of the "ch" gene. Out of fourteen subjects, there were four black "Asay" (the "C" series is unknown), six fawn (some were "Cch" and perhaps some "CC") and four grey "chch". This shows us that Matelot, in spite of his beautiful color, was heterozygous for the fawn, being "Cch". It is not possible yet to be precise on the genetic formula of Opale.
Since writing the preceding example, the litter from Rialto du Bois du Tot (chch) x Opale, which gave 1-1 black and 1-2 grey, enables us to deduce that Opale possesses the formula "chch". BBA p136
