In the 1960's Regis Lebon who had bred Malinois noted for working, decided to breed the long coats. He regrouped the best of Belgium's Groenendael lines by selecting dogs from de la Baraque de Planches, Forges Monceux and du Parc Longchamps and combining them with the blood of Quowboy du Long Spinoy. Qouwboy, although a Tervueren, was of Infernal breeding through his grandfather. The du Boscaille Groenendael dogs were strong working temperament and tended to have harsh, heavy, stand-off coats. When M Lebon liquidated his kennel, most of the long coats of the stick went to M Renard of de la Pouroffe. De la Pouroffe dogs were very close to the Infernal in type. Once again an accent on outstanding outlines and structure was brought back into the breed. These factors were combined with the positive features from the preceding kennels, creating a breeding base of dogs carefully selected and culled by the finest breeders of Belgian Sheepdogs for over seventy years. by Mary Linda Adams, The BS by Andrews & Cloutt
