Mme Mainguy began some experimental breeding founded on a Malinois-Laekenois cross in 1976. The first litter, born in February, saw the pair of Match and Miss de l'Orchidee Noire. A second litter born that same year had among others, Mick and Marcus de l'Orchidee Noire. This group of typical Belgian Shepherd appearing Laekenois has had a very successful show career. Marcus won the CAC CACIB at Paris in 1979 along with his full sister Miss. Mick won the RCAC and RCACIB at the same show. A later breeding of Miss to Mick resulted in Osteo de l'Orchidee Noire (first TB at the Orleans Specialty) and Opale (RCAC RCACIB at the 1979 Paris show and 2nd Ex at the Specialty at Viry-Chatillon that same year).
