The Swedish registry lists all available medical information on its purebred dogs. The only epileptic Swedish Tervuren without American ancestry is Radscha [registered w NHSB as Radschas] vd Berglaan.
If these Swedish dogs (inc Groenendael Femandos d'Artagnon, Hula Hula, Kronprins and Coretto [Loretto]) were unrelated to European and American dogs, then their importance would be minimal. But anyone familiar with the breed realizes that these dogs and their relatives are closely related to both European and American Berger Belge. And so it should not be surprising that an American-bred Groenendael, which recently fell into a fishpond and drowned during an epileptic seizure, and a recent European Groenendael import, put down for seizures, share this common ancestry. Nor should it be surprising that every American-bred Tervuren with seizures originates from Willy de la Garde Noire, Unica (or her sister, Unique), Tjop de la Brigade and Tosca du Bon Flair-the parents and grandparents of Radscha vd Berglaand. BBA p150
