multi High in Trial

First Belgian Sheepdog of any variety to go Best in Show in North America (5 June 1971).

photo (left, text) I think the mind of a dog, which is found or seen in the eyes, is most important to me. I want beauty and good conformation, but the latter can become more than what it really is, or make doubly visible what it is if the dog's presence can make this happen. I own such a dog. His name is American Canadian Champion Bonheur's D'Artagnan, UDT, Canadian CDX. "Smart Dart" is the First and Second Best in Show Belgian Tervuren. He is the only Working Dog to be a Best in Show winner, the highest scoring dog in Trial and a Champion UDT, all at the same time! Pictured here at seven years of age going Group First under Gordon Parham. Dart has been Number One Tervuren (full calendar year) for 1971, 1972 and 1973. Dart has over one hundred Best of Breed, forty-two Group Placements, the majority being Firsts and Seconds. Dart also has two National Specialty shows to his credit, and most important, a Best in Show Specialty daughter at the Belgian Sheepdog Club of Canada, June 1974 under Madame Aubry of France. Dart is owner-handled, x-rayed normal and spoiled rotten!! Hi Time Tervuren, Bernadine Paull

Owner's comments: Dart has defeated more dogs and had more group placements than any other dog of his breed to date. He was our breed's first Best in Show dog going over an entry of 1500 dogs at the Fox River Valley KC, June 5, 1971. He followed this with our breed's second Best in Show May 14, 1972 at Muskogon, Mich. His group placements total 21-four of these Group I, 10 Group II. While earning CD and CDX titles in the US and Canada, he was never out of the ribbons, and never scored below 195. His average score was 197. He has three highest scoring dog in trial awards. For a dog to be a real winner he must first think he is GREAT. Second, YOU must KNOW he is great. And third-you must PUT IT ALL TOGETHER. I think it is safe to say-this has been accomplished.
Dart is always owner handled.
