What can I say about Ukon? He's about the happiest dog I've ever seen. Nothing got him down - he literally bounced straight back! (Anyone who had gotten to know him even a little know that he was definitely a bouncer). He's super sweet too, loves a cuddle and wouldn't hurt a fly. Whilst he did get distracted a bit, he picked up his obedience lessons quite easily and quickly. He did awesome in a herding clinic I attended with him - catching on to the circling and fetching instinct virtually from the moment he saw the stock!
Ukon disappeared in May '07 while we were on holidays overseas and a (still) trusted friend was taking care of our house and pets. I still have regular dreams about finding him at least once a month or so.
A note for anyone who has one of Ukon's offspring: While it is standard practice for a breeder to take back puppies they've bred if they need rehoming, I would also like to take my part in responsibility, in that, if for some unforeseen reason the breeder can not take the puppy/dog back, that I would get the next opportunity to be able to step in and foster/rehome the dog.
