Fawn with charbonne at the ears and the muzzle, he is the perfect type of short haired Berger Belge. Constructed like the model of a wolf, extraordinarily vigilant, intelligent, sagacious, that one could want. Adolphe Reul in October, 1899 (translated)
Genealogie des Bergers Belges by Jean-Marie Vanbutsele

An extraordinary guard dog as well as winner of first prizes at dog shows in 1898. He was described as a very beautiful fawn short-hair with black overlay, ideal conformation and an explicit black mask. Tomy sired a number of litters, but his most outstanding offspring was Tjop LOSH 6132, born November 1, 1899 in Malines, north of Brussels. A great-grandson of Vos I and Lise, Tjop became the first Malinois champion in Belgium, as well as the most influential Malinois sire of the early twentieth century.

Tjop was considered to be a prototype of the Malinois variety. But logically his father, Tomy, should be considered the founder of this line.
Mr Verbanck recalls, in one of his many articles about this variety, which he successfully bred for many years, that Tomy was the first short-haired Berger Belge with a charcoal fawn coat and a black mask, which became the typical Malinois livery. Tomy transmitted this color to Tjop. BBA p51

Nelly had a litter of 8 puppies (5 males) by Tomy (FSCB 138) on August 5, 1898. The two belong to Henri Seegers.
