Owner's comments: Ruarri's record (at the age of 6): Best of Breed, 1984 ABTC National Specialty; Select, 1985 ABTC National Specialty; One US All-Breed BIS; One Canadian All-Breed BIS; 74 group placings to date. More importantly, Ruarri has earned his C-Bar with 20 direct champion offspring and a number of champion grand-offspring. More than half his direct champion get are from two of his first litters. His sons and daughters include group winners, obedience and tracking titled dogs, and HIC certified dogs. A son was the first Belgian Tervuren in Great Britain to win Best-Puppy-in-Show at a championship show over more than 4,000 puppies. Ruarri is leaving a legacy that will contribute to the betterment of the breed. We thank the owners of the beautiful bitches who have been bred to him. WE ARE SO PROUD OF HIM.
1986 ABTC Gene VolIII p173

Showing Ruarri (pronounces "Rory" ) was always an adventure - he was wild, flashy and loved to fly around the ring with me in tow. Fond memories of days gone by...good friends - Kay and Faye, and an untrammelled spirit - Ruarri.

Champ's daughter Bea was bred to BIS winner AKC Ch Hi Times Kanook O'Crocs Blanc CD BAR and produced the outstanding Kalyn's Zazarac de Bonheur BAR. 'Moxie' was the foundation for Bonheur's second wave. She earned 12 points, including two five point majors before accidents and puppies curtailed her career.
Moxie was bred four times, producing only 15 puppies. Her first two litters were by AKC Ch Kalyn's Whiskey Sour UDT (a Champ son) and produced the 'well-rounded', group placing AKC Ch Bonheur's Perin de Kalyn UDT. Two of the most successful Bonheur litters were Moxie's by AKC Ch Elysee de Mont-Cenis (Gina - AKC Ch Regina's Echo de Bonheur's grandson). There were five puppies in all, including AKC/CKC Ch Bonheur Ruarri MacTire HIC, AKC Ch Bonheur Star Treader CDX TD and AKC Ch Bonheur Spellbinder CD HIC (Magic).
Ruarri was an American/Canadian BIS winner and 1984 National Specialty Best of Breed. He earned both his conformation and obedience Breeder Achievement Records (BARs) in 1985, at the age of six. The fact that he gained both honors so young can be attributed to the number of quality bitches to whom he was bred. His offspring include many outstanding conformation and obedience dogs such as AKC Ch Yessit's C'est Tout TDX, AKC Ch StarBright Cisco Kid UDTX, AKC Ch StarBright Cosmic Comedy TD and AKC Ch Up Tempo Ileia CDX. Both 'Funny' and 'Ileia' earned Best of Winners awards at ABTC National Specialties. Ruarri was also the sire of Marcelle King's StarBright Dollars Invested at Belamba. Kay and I acquired a WILD young male from Faye Dickens (Bonheur kennel) to breed to Boo (StarBright Bouquetiere), Ch Bonheur Ruarri MacTire went on to Best of Breed at the American National, All Breed multi Best in Show and over 100 Group Placements. Ruarri was electricity. You couldn't ignore this dog in the showring - he was full of life, living at the speed of light. Blackfaced, and blessed with a glorious straight harsh mahogany coat, he was a knockout in the group ring. Sometimes he was wild as the wind - wanting to gallop - let's just say that Kay (with whom Ruarri lived) was not a very strict diciplinarian. Sometimes, he was magical, ears up, tail wagging, as if to say to the judge "I dare you to give that Big Blue Rosette to anyone else". He had buckets of what you refer to as 'glamour'.
The Ruarri X Boo crosses produced two litters. They were exceptional obedience dogs, had flair and style in the breed ring, and in general, owned the planet (at least they thought so). Ch StarBright Cosmic Comedy was Best of Winner's at the National Specialty under Skip Stanbridge. Ch StarBright Cisco Kid UDTX, a group placer and high in trial dog and Ch StarBright Champignon UDTX Best of Winners at the Canadian National Specialty were used in breeding programs. Both were excellent tracking dogs. Ch StarBright Charade CDX, a lovely grey-beige bitch, is one of only a handful of greys to earn an American Championship. The American standard severely penalizes dogs with grey or pale color. Rader's owner just couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about - he is physically color-blind.
