Lance is siring puppies of superb type, construction and temperament with many CC winning offspring in the UK, Sweden and Norwary, including Corsini Aragon, top Tervueren in Sweden 1991, and who has to his credit 7 CCs in addition to working qualifications. At the prestigious Swedish Specialty Show, out of a record entry of nearly 400 Belgian Shepherd Dogs, Corsini Aragon was awarded Best in Show by top Continental breed specialists: Mons. Deschuymere, Mons. LeBon and Mons. Desschans.

Lance is to be mated to our latest bitch imported from Belgium, Opera van de Hoge Laer at Corsini (hip score 0:6) during 1992. (Corsini) 1992 YB p93

Lance was imported from Belgium 5 years ago and since his arrival has proved to be a valuable stud dog, siring puppies of superb type and construction. His qualities have been passed on, not only to his immediate offspring, but also to succeeding generations. You will find his name behind many of today's top winning young dogs. He has produced many Champions and CC winners including:
Ch Tanje Starlight Silhouette of Xelbi
Ch Tanje Starlight Sensation
Ch Topsette Tycoon
Ch Timberhall Rampant Riley
Corsini Attention Seeker
Corsini Aragon (In Sweden)
Niavan On Fire
Bergerac Intermezzo
Lance is currently leading Our Dogs competition for Top Sire (Groenendael) 1993, having also received this award for 1990 and 1991. (Karen Ellis & Amanda McLaren, Corsini) 1994 YB p160

It was just prior to this last litter (Karmidale D litter) that I received a telephone call that was to put Karmidale on the "back burner" for over a decade!
That call came from Carol McNichol (Delark) asking if I would make contact with a lady she had just sold a puppy to, who happened to live in my hometown. The next call I made was to this lady, Amanda McLaren, who was soon to become a very good friend. Having introduced Mandy to many of my BSD friends and their dogs, another BSD enthusiast was well and truly hooked on the world of show dogs.
Our friendship developed into a business partnership and hence "Corsini" was formed. Where "Corsini" came from I cannot remember except that it was the one that was eventually accepted by The Kennel Club.
"Corsini" first imported Leyla van het Wouwenhof, followed by Lance van de Hoge Laer, both from Belgium, both of whom went on to become Champions. We then saw the arrival of Opera and Opium van de Hoge Laer and the litter born in quarantine out of Ombre de la Quievre sired by Ch Giono du Bois du Tot. By now I dreaded the letters from Barclays Bank but these early imports gave us many Champion and CC winning offspring.
Opium van de Hoge Laer won his title and, along with Lance, appear in the pedigrees of many of today's winning dogs. Opera unfortunately died shortly after a litter by Lance which produced Corsini Eye of The Tiger who was rarely shown but whom I would love to campaign.
"Opera" who was tragically taken from me with Addison's Disease. Her illness cost me close to £1000 in total: I will never have another dog without insurance!
It was soon after her death when it became clear that I could no longer afford to keep up with Mandy's future plans, nor did I have the time available to commit as I also worked up to 70 hours a week running my Estate Agency business. It was also true to say that when "Opera" died, a large part of me died too. For months I couldn't look at the Year Books, nor could I go to a show and watch the greys in the ring - it was just too distressing. This, coupled with the fact that I was going through personal problems which subsequently led to a divorce, put a strain on our relationships. I was holding "Corsini" back 'temporarily' and it was during this difficult time that I was asked to sign over my interest in "Corsini" - not just numerous dogs but the affix as well. Reluctantly I did so - I didn't feel I had a choice. At the time dogs were not the primary factor of my life.
What does the future hold? For Mandy and "Corsini" I am sure continued success and I wish "Corsini" well. I will always have pride in the fact that I was involved in its foundation.
For myself....who knows? It is going to be very hard to pick up where I left off prior to the liaison many years ago. From "Corsini" I have Lance (now a veteran) and from Karmidale nothing, but I am not prepared to give up after 15 years dedictation to the breed, and hope to have a new addition during 1997.
(Karen Ellis now Karen Costelloe, Karmidale/Corsini)
