Samy du Mordant

Male Belgian Groenendael  8/15/1944 (deceased)
Color: black
Owner: R Daniel
Breeder: Omelezuk
LOF 1555
Sire: V1 Poupon de l’Etoile Blanche
Dam: Nova (LOF 855)

Situated in Normandy, the Garde Noire kennel remained active for ony a few years just after the war, and did not have any lasting influence in the Groenendael variety. Its fame comes from having produced in two litters from the same Groenendael parents, Samy du Mordant and Ura du Chemin des Dames, the two fawn studs, Willy and Witan de la Garde Noire, which enabled the renaissance and the extraordinary resurgence of the Tervuren in France at the beginning of the 1950's.
Samy du Mordant was a good dog issued from a kennel whose offspring were rather rare. Of medium type and medium size, he was quite square, with small ears and a good coat of excellent texture. BBA p87

note: he must have been registered w LOF later because his number is out of order with the others in his litter
