1929 was the start of the Great Depression, and one of its many effects was the severe dropping off of registrations as fewer dogs were bred. This affected the Tervueren as well, the 1929 LOSH listing only 7 individual registrations and two litters. In that same year Mr Thuriot began his Bois des Capucins kennel in Tervueren, choosing as his foundation bitch Mira du Bois des Capucins, of unknown origins.
1931 saw the birth of Sarra du Bois des Capucins in Mr Thuriot's kennel in Tervueren. Her sire was Sultan du Colzas LOB 12438, an older brother of Elan, her dam Mira du Bois des Capucins from unknown origins.
1936 saw the birth of Rip du Bois des Capucins, from Gamin't Hof-ten-Bosch bred to Sarra du Bois des Capucins. Rip was registered with Saint-Hubert as Kimboy LOSH 93727. His pedigree is a combination of the old Tervueren lines with those of Minox and Colette ex Folette, and a number of unknowns. Hist of the Terv p22

On January 25, 1939 Kimboy (Rip du Bois des Capucins) and Irettine (Mirette de la Ferme Termunt) produced Niria (Nioka de la Ferme Termunt), at Mr Thuriot's kennel in Tervueren. It was only after World War II that Mr Desees would use his Ferme Termunt kennel name in the LOSH. Hist of the Terv p24

In Belgium, The LOSH 1940-1960:
At the beginning of World War II, the long-hair-fawn variety barely existed in Belgium. By the end of the war, the fawn kennels from the 1930's were no longer producing. Only one man, Mr E Desees, from the town of Tervuren attempted to breed a line of long-hair-fawns.
Desees began breeding in 1940 [correction, should be 1930's], using a few long-hair-fawns, born just before the war from LOB, unknown or grey ancestry. Using the fawns Kimboy LOSH 93727, Romeo LOSH 134567 and O'Josephine LOSH 10625, his production supplied Switzerland with some of its earliest fawns. Between 1942-1952 Ferme Termunt was the only regularly producing long-hair-fawn Belgian kennel. One could say that Desees 'dominated' post World War II Belgian production, for he bred an amazing 2-4 litters almost every year. When some Belgians in the late 1960's renewed their interest in the Tervuren, many used Ferme Termunt dogs for their foundation stock. BBA pxv
