Became the stud for the French Tervuren kennel Clos St Clair.
The Clos St Clair kennel attempted to escape from it's asphyxiation due to an excess of marvelous, but too concentrated blood. So in 1960 it imported Jimmy de l'Assa from the best Malinois kennel in Belgium. Jimmy, appeared as one of four long hairs in a litter of short hairs.
He won the CACIB at Paris in 1961 at 10 months of age. He continued for two more years to be the best in the variety without ever asserting himself as the best Berger Belge.
The brutal death of Jimmy at the age of 3 years, in addition to the poor state of his owner's health, sounded the death knell in 1964 for this kennel of great conscience and integrity. All the other Tervuren kennels owed a great deal to Clos St Clair. It was painful for them to see it disappear. BBA p95
