1973 Oct American Champion
Celeste, a true champion in every sense of the word, finished her championship at fourteen months with four majors, and acquired her obedience degrees with style. Celeste was a great-granddaughter of LaDesiree Diademe Regio Semine CDX (the first dog to be registered in this country as a Belgian Malinois, selected by the esteemed authority and judge of Malinois, the late Mr F.E. Verbanck, after a five-year European search for a Malinois of top quality).
Celeste was an ideal companion at home and away, being protective without aggression, accepting visitors with dignity, showing no fear or apprehension, but watchful acceptance.
As the pioneer of Malinois in this country, we imported only top quality individuals, campaigned vigorously for their recognition and showed numerous times from coast to coast with loarge entries at each show (including showing in and winning many Miscellaneous classes), affording judges the opportunity of seeing good Malinois. The first AKC registered litter was whelped at Diadem. It produced the first AKC champion, Ch Diadem Nike of Samothrace CD.
Since 1965, when the Malinois were reinstated with full breed status, we here at Diadem have loved the Malinois enough to import, train, breed and show sound, typey Malinois. We are also proud of the many championships and obedience titles we have. (Diadem) 1993 Belgian Annual p17
